Tianjin FAW Xiali Automobile Co., Ltd., Transmission Manufacturing Branch is an enterprise specialized in the production of automotive transmission and rear-axle gear. It was formerly established as Tianjin Automotive Gear Factory in 1956. On September 2, 2004, the factory transferred all its assets and staff into Tianjin FAW Xiali Automobile Co., Ltd. through corporate restructuring, the company was then renamed Tianjin FAW Xiali Automobile Co., Ltd., Transmission Manufacturing Branch, becoming FAW Group’s production base of transmissions for economical passenger vehicles.

The company covers a floor area of 168,000m2 and a building area of 60,000m2 and has total assets of RMB 460 million and a total of 991 in-service employees including a management staff of 217 and 774 operators. The company is mainly engaged in gear processing, shell processing, grinding, heat treatment processing and general assembly, has 1,178 processing and test machines and boasts a comprehensive production capacity of 250,000 transmissions and 100,000 sets of rear-axle gears on an annual basis. It passed ISO9002 Quality System Certification in 1997 and ISO9001:2000 Quality System Certification in 2003. Currently, its main products include 4T063 Transmission, 5T063A Transmission, 5T063B Transmission, 5T065 Transmission, 5T070 Transmission, 5L65 Transmission and various rear-axle gears.

The company boasts a strong technical force and R & D capacity with nearly 20 technologists specialized in the development of new products, is experienced in the design and production of gears and transmissions and has a strong capacity for the design and development of transmission products with its product laboratories capable of conducting tests of comprehensive performance of transmissions, fatigue life of gear, performance of synchronizers, life of synchronizers and tests of constant torque, lubrication, noise, efficiency experiments, etc..
