Tianjin FAW Xiali Automobile Co., Ltd., Internal Combustion Engine Manufacturing Branch (formerly Tianjin Internal Combustion Engine Manufacturing Plant) was founded in 1985 and restructured into Tianjin Xiali Automobile Co., Ltd., Internal Combustion Engine Manufacturing Branch through recapitalization in 1997, after the merger of China FAW Group and Tianjin Auto Group on June 14, 2002, Tianjin FAW Xiali Automobile Co., Ltd., Internal Combustion Engine Manufacturing Branch was established as the production base of the engines for FAW Group’s economical passenger vehicles.
The company has a total of 1,485 employees including 1,112 operators, a service staff of 99, 123 technologists and a management staff of 151, covers a floor area of 89,346m2 and a building area of 92,625m2 and has fixed assets of RMB 1.3 billion. It is an enterprise specialized in the production of internal combustion engines, boasts a strong R & D capacity and has produced a variety of gasoline and diesel engines. Through introduction of technologies and independent development, it currently has three engine platforms for the production of various gasoline engines with displacements ranging from 1.0L to 1.8L (TJ376QE and CA4GB are in production ,TA1 is in preparation,and a total of over 1,500,000 TJ376QE engines have been produced) to provide high-quality power systems for various economical passenger vehicles.
The company has advanced production equipment and a strong production capacity and has reached domestically advanced level in casting quality with its automatic casting & processing lines consisting of the static pressure molding lines and sand treatment equipment imported from Japan. Its machining line using foreign and domestic equipment is of high automation degree and processing quality. Its assembly line is the flexible line imported from Japan with high working efficiency and advanced facilities for quality monitoring and technological test.
The company has established the perfect quality assurance system, has been strictly implementing ISO9000 standards and took the lead in passing ISO9001 Quality System Certification and ISO10012 Measurement System Certification in the national tiny engine industry in 1995.
The company adheres to the principle of quality foremost by strictly controlling production quality and taking advanced management measures to control key working procedures. It has advanced means of test such as equipment like crank and camshaft testers imported from USA and roughness and outline testers and carbon and sulfur analyzers imported from Germany to monitor engine production in full process. It carried out the all-staff activities aimed at quality improvement and achieved good results. It ensures high quality of products through strict quality management with its “Tiannei” Engine honored as a famous-brand product by Tianjin Municipal Government and awarded the titles of “National Favorable Product” and “National Favorable Enterprise” by National User Committee. In March 2005, the world-famous company J. D. Power released the results of its investigation and research on the Chinese automobile market for the first time. According to the results, in the sub-divisional market of compact cars, Tianjin Xiali got a maximum score of 768. The evaluation results ofXiali’s all indices were encouraging, especially engine and transmission system.
